Foreign media reported that chip maker AMD seems to be wary of the partnership between rival Intel (Intel) and NVIDIA (NVIDIA). Because AMD said that the cooperation between the two competing companies may affect the business, but it also showed that it is ready to deal with all competition.

Wccftech reported that the partnership between Intel and NVIDIA began in September, when Intel announced an agreement with NVIDIA. The two chip manufacturers will cooperate to design and build customized x86 chips for data centers and client fields. The multi-billion dollar deal will not only enable NVIDIA to leverage Intel's x86 intellectual property (IP) to develop customized CPUs for its data center/artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, but will also integrate NVIDIA's RTX series of GPU IP into Intel's x86 system-on-chip (SoC) for PCs.

For Intel, although some people question whether they will terminate the development of their own GPU IP. But Intel has confirmed that its GPU roadmap will not be affected and will continue to develop its own products. NVIDIA's RTX IP will be used in different categories of SoCs, with the main target being AMD's Halo architecture, such as the Ryzen AI MAX series.

According to reports, AMD initially expressed confidence in its product line and would continue to provide disruptive technologies. However, in a recent statement, AMD seemed to change its tune, pointing out that Intel's cooperation with NVIDIA will cause its products to face more intense competition and pricing pressure.

AMD states that New Competitor Partnerships are included in the Economic and Strategic Risks section as examples of strategic collaborations, acquisitions and commercial collaborations among competitors that could increase competition and adversely affect our business. Therefore, AMD pointed out that this cooperation with rivals may lead to increased competition and pricing pressure on its own products, which may have a material adverse effect on the company's business, financial condition and profits.

Although AMD's concerns are legitimate, it will still take several years for customized Intel and NVIDIA products to be available. As a result, AMD's current Ryzen AI MAX lineup already offers superior PC and workstation capabilities on mobile platforms, a market that Intel also wants to compete in. Although they had plans to launch an Arrow Lake Halo series, it was ultimately cancelled. After that² Intel expects to launch its first Halo-class chip, Nova Lake-AX, in 2026-2027. At the same time, NVIDIA is also expected to launch its own AI PC products based on the N1 series SoC in 2026.

Faced with the double-sided attack from Intel and NVIDIA, AMD is currently in a favorable position to deal with it. The pressure for this coordinated attack stems from NVIDIA providing top GPU IP to Intel, and Intel providing access to its advanced packaging and x86 IP to NVIDIA. According to current market news, AMD is also preparing an updated version of Strix Halo for 2026, and is currently ramping up production. In addition, AMD is expected to develop more platforms, especially in the field of mobile devices, and will launch new SKU series options. AMD plans to meet the challenge with its high-performance products built on next-generation Zen 6 architecture and future RDNA architecture.
