According to the official news from the EFL (English League Association), commemorative armbands will be launched this season's League Cup.

The first round of the 2025-26 English League Cup kicked off, and the EFL released a special updated armband to pay tribute to the history of the event and commemorate Newcastle's historic championship last season. To commemorate the 65th anniversary of this iconic event, both the defending champions and previous champions will wear the League Cup commemorative armbands to celebrate their brilliant achievements. The new armband takes the iconic green of the League Cup and will include a tribute to the number of championships won by each club.

Last season's League Cup champion Newcastle will play in the third round, and they will wear a golden armband with the number 1 to commemorate their first championship win. As the game progresses, a total of 24 teams have the opportunity to wear commemorative armbands printed with the number of championships, of which 11 are currently in the Premier League. In League Cup history, Liverpool ranked first in the championship 10 times, Manchester City second in 8 times, and Manchester United third in 6 times.
