Nicol: Slott needs to substitute Salah, maybe it will make him perform better

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol believes that Slott should drop the Egyptian star given Salah's disappointing start to the season.

When asked whether Slott should consider putting Salah on the bench, Nicol gave a blunt response. He told ESPN: "Yes, I will. The second part of the question is, who replaces him? You have to try to find a way to get him back to something close to his best, and so far, having him play, play, play has not worked."

"When he scored a few goals in two games against Brentford and Aston Villa, I felt He was excited, but apart from those two goals, his overall performance didn't change much. "

"The only thing to do is to sit him on the bench and watch the game, maybe get a different perspective. "

"Then play him in the next game and see if there is any reaction. The team can no longer carry him, it's that simple."

When asked whether Slott could maximize Salah's playing time due to next month's African Cup, Nicol said: "Unfortunately, what is the point? He has not brought any contribution to the team."

"You can look at it from another perspective, he will leave the team for two years. Three months, we might as well try to figure out a solution now. Why should I wait for a player who has contributed nothing? I can't sit back and expect someone to suddenly wave a wand and make him the king of Egypt again."

"I definitely think Slaughter needs to make a move, and in my opinion, I'll keep him on the bench."
