Liverpool celebrity Carragher recently made a podcast show The Overlap and questioned Chelsea's level.

Chelsea won the Club World Cup championship in the United States in early summer this year and qualified for the Champions League next season with its fourth place in the Premier League. But Carragher believes that Maresca's modified lineup is not stronger than before, suggesting that the club's recruitment strategy of spending about £250 million this summer to introduce eight new players has little effect.

Carragher said: "When I look at Chelsea, I think of your performance in the club's World Cup, which is the honor that all teams dream of. Top teams such as Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have all fought for it. Therefore, I think this trophy is of great significance and will help Maresca establish a connection with fans. This connection was indeed missing last season."

"But I'm not sure whether this will shorten the distance between Chelsea and the championship. Chelsea's transfer operations in the past few years gave me the feeling that players have changed frequently, but the overall level has not improved. Although Palmer's performance is amazing, all the wingers in the team are like the same template. A typical example is that Gittens joins the team and Maduaike leaves the team. This is not an upgrade at all. This is the situation in multiple positions of Chelsea."
