British media: Antonio s contract negotiations with West Ham are deadlocked after he broke his leg in a car accident

The Times reported that Antonio and West Ham jointly negotiated with each other were at a deadlock and the future was uncertain.

Antonio hopes to return to the arena in the next few weeks. The West Ham United striker suffered a broken leg six months ago in a car accident and is now planning to participate in the Central North American and Caribbean Golden Cup held in the United States and Canada from June 14 to July 6, representing Jamaica. Jamaica will face Guatemala next Tuesday, then against Guadeloupe and Panama in Group C.

35-year-old Antonio is eager to prove that he has recovered through participation in order to strive for a renewal of his contract with West Ham United. His contract with a weekly salary of more than £90,000 expires this month and has rejected the short-term contract provided by the club. The basic salary of this contract is low, and you can only get additional compensation if you meet the number of appearances. He hopes to get a longer-term and more affordable contract. But West Ham is unwilling to raise his offer, with Antonio scoring only 16 appearances before being injured last season. The stalemate of the contract may be the reason Antonio hints at a possible departure on Sunday, posting photos of the 2023 European Union trophy on social media and videos recording the recovery process after the car accident. After training on December 7 last year, he drove a £260,000 grey Ferrari to a Dala storm in Eping Forest, Essex. The vehicle lost control and hit a tree, causing his femur to fracture everywhere. He was discharged from the hospital on New Year's Eve after surgery. The video opens with a Ferrari wreckage, where a voiceover asks him how to escape, and then shows him from initially learning to walk on crutches to restoring ball-heeling at the Essex training base. The background sound adopts the motto of inspirational speaker Ingie Johnson, and Antonio wrote: "Faith will overcome all challenges."

Despite his serious injury, Antonio said he was 100% sure he would return to the field. In May, he told the Team News: "The question is whether the club wants to renew the contract. This is my primary consideration, but I am still waiting. Until then, I can only focus on recovery and ensure that I can contribute no matter where I am next year."

Since joining from Nottingham Forest in 2015, the player, who has won the team's three-time Premier League scorer king, has played 323 games for the Hammers and scored 83 goals.
