Maintaining a clean and hygienic home environment is good for everyone. In addition to cleaning diligently, we also want to use disinfection products to wipe the floor or table to disinfect the home. But do you know that some disinfection products are harmful to cats, how can kittens families safely disinfect them!

1. Common disinfectants may be harmful to cats.

Families who raise cats should keep one more heart when choosing disinfectants. The main ingredient in common disinfectants is chlorine. For example, a certain number of bleach with sodium hypochlorite as the main ingredient is not recommended for cats to use. If the dilution is not enough, the stock solution is very corrosive and cannot be used directly by people. Cats will get poisoned after accidentally licking or touching them. Symptoms of poisoning include drooling, vomiting, etc. Moreover, most cats are fascinated by the smell of sodium hypochlorite. For some cats, it is more like eating catnip. It will lick it wildly or use its body to rub the disinfectant water to scrub the place it has been washed. The chance of cats taking too much disinfectant is even greater, and this type of disinfectant cannot be used with alcohol or toilet cleaning. After mixing, highly toxic gas may be produced. People are prone to infect the respiratory tract and lungs after inhalation, resulting in bronchitis and emphysema. Excessive inhalation may also lead to cardiac arrest.

Another type is a disinfectant product mainly composed of phenolics, such as phenolic disinfectant, including some natural essential oils that also contain phenolic compounds. It is also not recommended to keep cats in families. It's not that the product is bad, but that cats are sensitive to all phenolic compounds. The study found that compared with other animals, cats lack a phenol detoxification enzyme called glucuronyltransferase. Cats cannot metabolize the compounds here well. Once they are accidentally eaten by cats, they will be fatal if they are seriously ingested! However, it is not completely unusable. Before using it, you must strictly follow the standards for scrubbing the floor in the instructions and dilute it. Then, during use, you should pay attention to isolating the cat. After eliminating it, wipe it with clean water to remove the residue of the disinfectant ingredients. At the same time, you should also place these disinfectants where the cat cannot touch!

2. How should cat breeders disinfect

For the home environment, for example, the floor can be disinfected, and then use common disinfectants to disinfect under the premise of isolating the cat. What is more safe is to choose a special disinfectant for pets. These special disinfectants are completely harmless to cats and can also kill a variety of bacteria and viruses. However, no matter which pet disinfectant is used, you should also read the instructions carefully and compare them according to the instructions. In addition, you can prepare more medical alcohol disinfectant or alcohol cotton pads with a concentration of 70% to 75%. It is not recommended to buy 95% alcohol to dilute it yourself. Unless you are a little math genius and have an accurate measuring cup at home, don’t spray alcohol on a large scale, or spray it on your body, as it will easily catch fire. Alcohol is more suitable for wiping some common small objects, such as your mobile phone, keys, cat food bowls, water bowls, cat litter boxes, etc.

Speaking of cat litter box, please pay attention to the lecture. Do not use the chlorine-containing products mentioned above to disinfect. If sodium hypochlorite comes into direct contact with urine, toxic gases may also be produced. If you have a steam mop at home, it is also very suitable. High-temperature steam can eliminate a variety of bacteria, bacteria and parasites, cat families can prepare a steam mop. Ultraviolet disinfection lamps can also play a certain role in disinfection, be careful not to use them when people and cats are there. The people and cats have to stay in another room and come back after disinfecting and ventilation for 10 minutes.

You should also pay more attention to the health of the cat. Do you eat and drink water normally? Is it normal to urinate and defecate? Are you in good spirits? Is the behavior normal? Have you become more eye poop? Will you sneeze? Deworming, vaccinating, etc. on time. If you can't make a judgment, go to the hospital quickly, I hope everyone and your cat are healthy.
